13-year-old, other man charged in Georgia Walmart parking lot murder

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 13-year-old and a 20-year-old are both facing murder charges in the shooting death of a man in the parking lot of a Georgia Walmart.

The Warner Robbins Police Department posted on their Facebook page that the teen and 20-year-old Rickey Martin Jr. were arrested Thursday.

On July 7, police said 52-year-old Gregory Arnett was shot to death while sitting in his car in the parking lot of the Walmart near Booth Road. Witnesses said they saw two people running from the scene.

Investigators believe the motive was “hijacking a motor vehicle.”

Both suspects have been charged with murder and aggravated assault. Martin is being held at the Houston County Detention Center and the teen is at the Crisp County Youth Detention Center.

“The arrests result from an arduous and thorough investigation led by Detectives Paul Peck and Gary Chambers, as well as the entire Investigations Unit, Narcotics Investigation Unit, Forensics Unit, Patrol, PACE and SWAT,” the department wrote on Facebook.
