COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man once accused of armed robbery and two other crimes said he spent more than 30 days in jail for crimes he did not commit.
He said he and his six friends were arrested along with five others in July.

Last week, during a probable cause bond hearing a Cobb County judge dismissed the cases against seven of the defendants.
The judge’s order says probable cause for seven of the defendants did not exist for armed robbery, aggravated battery and terroristic threats.
Charges against two defendants remain active because probable cause does exist. Two of three charges were dropped against two other defendants.
“I was just sitting there for something I didn’t do,” Cristian Cuevas said.
For 36 days Cuevas said he couldn’t do anything as his life fell apart outside of the jail he was in.
“I lost my job. I’m basically starting over,” he said.
“We have lost the original thread of innocent until proven guilty and it’s causing innocent people like my client to sit in cages for over a month for something they didn’t do in which there’s no evidence of,” Criminal Defense Attorney Blake Weiner said.

“Just being there, I mean it did traumatize me mentally,” Cuevas said.
Cobb County Police arrested and charged 12 people, including a 14-year-old in July. Investigators said a fender bender led to an armed robbery after the driver of the car that was hit tried to get cash for damage to his car. They were charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery and terroristic threats.
“The only evidence they had was that somebody was beaten up. My client was in a 30-yard radius at the time that this person was beaten up and the person’s whose beaten up girlfriend said everybody around here was involved. That’s it that’s the only evidence the officer had and that caused them to arrest 12 young boys,” attorney Weiner said.
“They didn’t give us a reason for what we were getting arrested for. They were just like everyone’s getting arrested everybody’s going to jail even the minor he’s going to juvenile. I was just looking crazy, like what did I do?” Cuevas said.
Last week Cuevas and other defendants appeared in court for a probable cause bond hearing.
“Nine of them had the hearing, seven of the nine were dismissed in their entirety,” attorney Weiner said.
We contacted The Cobb County Police department for its side of the story but the department hasn’t responded to the allegations.
