1 dead, 1 injured in shooting near Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. — The Statesboro Police Department arrested a man accused of killing one person and injuring another one at an apartment complex.
 
Police say 21-year-old Steven Williams was charged with murder and aggravated assault Friday morning. Police say he shot and injured 24-year-old Ian Lamar Rumph and killed another person at the Campus Crossing apartments on Lanier Drive.
 
Police responded to the scene at about 12:30 a.m. and found the two victims.
 
Two other people, Joseph Miles and Malik Rashad Freeman, were detained for questioning. They were later charged with obstruction and making false statements.
 
Rumph was being treated at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
 
The name of the victim has not been released pending the notification of next of kin.
