The chase began just before 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, when Long County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling Georgia Highway 196 near Joe Kennedy Road.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies spotted a black Yamaha MT-07 traveling west on Highway 196 at a high rate of speed but were unable to catch up.
Deputies later saw the motorcycle pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. The motorcycle was clocked at 90 mph in a posted 55-mph zone, according to authorities.
A deputy tried to stop the motorcycle near Hay Field Road, but authorities say the driver sped away.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver, identified as Victor Tavarez of Fort Stewart, reached speeds of 130 mph during the chase.
The chase continued into Tattnall County before turning onto U.S. Highway 301.

Moody received medical attention for minor injuries, according to deputies.
