LEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia man is facing multiple charges after investigators say he was caught with stolen mail following a series of thefts in Lee County.

Lee County deputies responded to the Glendale neighborhood around 3 a.m. on Aug. 10 after receiving reports of suspicious people in the area.

While investigating, deputies found Ryan Christopher Etheridge riding a bicycle through the neighborhood. Authorities said they also discovered that numerous mailboxes had been opened.

During an encounter with deputies, Etheridge allegedly tried to run away. A deputy deployed a TASER, and Etheridge was taken into custody.

Investigators said deputies found pieces of mail belonging to area residents, along with methamphetamine, in Etheridge’s possession during the arrest.

As the investigation continued, authorities connected Etheridge to another series of mail thefts reported during the early morning hours of Aug. 8. Deputies said several mailboxes were entered in the Creekside Drive and Kinchafoonee Creek Road areas.

The sheriff’s office credited a citizen who provided surveillance footage that helped investigators identify and connect Etheridge to the earlier thefts.

Officials thanked residents who assisted with the investigation by sharing information and video evidence.

The investigation remains ongoing.
