WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — Two people are facing charges after deputies rescued several severely malnourished dogs from a Georgia home, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said its Animal Control Unit began investigating last week after receiving a tip about dogs that appeared to be severely malnourished and starving.

During the investigation, deputies rescued numerous dogs they said were emaciated and malnourished.

Deputies also discovered more than one dog that had died due to starvation, according to investigators.

The investigation resulted in warrants being issued for Robert Walker and Brittany Walker.

Both were taken into custody and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, the sheriff’s office said.

Robert and Brittany Walker are being held at the Whitfield County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
