DADE COUNTY, Ga. — A traffic stop in northwest Georgia led to the discovery of illegal drugs inside a vehicle, according to deputies.

The Dade County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped a vehicle Thursday on Highway 136 East near McKaig Loop.

During the stop, deputies and Georgia State Patrol troopers found 13.2 pounds of cocaine and 2.2 pounds of fentanyl concealed behind the dashboard.

Martin Antonio Nolasco-Guzman, of El Tumbador, Guatemala, was arrested.

He faces six counts of trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl, a brake light violation and a charge of having a vehicle with a false or secret compartment, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Ray Cross praised deputies for their work, saying the drug seizure could have saved lives by keeping the drugs out of local communities.

“Every ounce of illegal drugs that we seize, makes a difference,” Cross said.
