4-month-old baby safe after 13-year-old girl steals car with him inside, deputies say

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said a kidnapped 4-month-old boy is safe after a 13-year-old girl stole a car with him inside Monday.

The stolen car, along with the 13-year-old and the baby boy was found at the Days Inn by Wyndham, located at 3950 River Place Drive.

Both the baby and the 13-year-old are unharmed.

The baby was returned to his family and the 13-year-old girl was taken to a juvenile detention center and will face charges for kidnapping and theft by taking of a motor vehicle.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the 13-year-old girl stole a car and kidnapped a 4-month-old baby in the back seat from a Georgia Publix.

The baby’s father, 26-year-old Kevin Walker, reported that his silver 4-door 2017 Honda Accord with Georgia tag CSW5695 was stolen from the parking lot of the Publix shopping center located at 5581 Thomaston Road in Macon.

Inside the vehicle was his 4-month-old son and a 13-year-old girl, who was a friend.

According to the sheriff’s office, Walker was at a nearby Kroger before the incident when he saw the 13-year-old and her mother.

Walker is friends with the mother and her daughter and when the girl asked to go with Walker while he was working for Instacart, her mother agreed.

Walker said he completed two Instacart orders and went inside Publix to clean candy stains off his 4-year-old son’s clothing.

When he came back out of the store around 12 p.m., his car, his 4-month-old son, and the 13-year-old girl were gone.

Store surveillance video showed the girl getting into the driver’s seat of the Honda and driving away.
