Delta has banned 350 people from flying for refusal to wear masks

ATLANTA, Ga. — We’re less than two months until Thanksgiving, and if you’re considering a flight this year, there are new rules in place.

Most airlines require passengers to wear masks during this pandemic.

Passenger Ginger Penatarr says she thinks that’s a good idea with the current coronavirus situation.

But not everyone is cooperating. Channel 2′s Carol Sbarge reached out to Delta Air Lines to ask if people are complying. A spokesperson says most are, but Delta has banned 350 people from flying with them after they refused to wear their masks.

Delta wrote in a statement, “Part of every customer’s commitment prior to traveling on Delta is the requirement to acknowledge our updated travel policies, which includes wearing a mask. Failure to comply with our mask-wearing mandate can result in the inability to fly Delta in the future.”

Passenger Sam Bob says he thinks masks are important in trying to slow the virus, and he’s fine with having to wear one.

Now as customers look to book flights for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, some people are still trying to decide what to do. Passenger Daniel McRae says his family is waiting to see what’s going to happen. He wants to see if coronavirus cases are going to spike with the return of colder weather.

A number of airlines in addition to Delta Air Lines are banning passengers who don’t wear masks. Those include American Airlines and United Airlines.
