Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q grabbed the sixth spot. The restaurant includes a location on Dekalb Avenue NE in Atlanta and a “Que”-osk for fast walk-up barbecue on Ottley Drive.

Twin brothers Jonathan and Justin Fox opened the eatery after moving from Texas and being homesick for some Texas-style barbecue. With no professional training, the duo started testing their skills with backyard parties for their friends. And today, the brothers have won numerous awards for their take on barbecue.

Southern Living noted, “Their hickory-smoked chicken wings are standouts, and there are plenty of foxy creations that span the South’s regional styles, like chopped brisket-laced ‘Texas fries’ and chicken-fried ribs with Alabama white sauce. You won’t leave hungry.”

Southern Soul on St. Simons Island earned the No. 3 spot on the list. Southern Soul nabbed the No. 1 spot in 2017, tied for it in 2018 and won it again in 2019. Georgia-style pulled pork, tangy Brunswick stew, ribs and smoked chicken wings, cooked on hardwood-fired pits proved to be a winning combination.

Southern Living noted, “Order a big platter of brisket, chicken, and honey-glazed ribs and feast at one of the long picnic tables on the bustling patio. Don’t forget the Brunswick stew—it’s some of the best in Georgia, and one of the many reasons why Southern Soul is a perennial reader favorite.”

Wiley’s Championship BBQ landed the highest spot for any Georgia eatery on the list, checking in at No. 2. Wiley McCrary’s redneck nachos helped his Savannah restaurant earn the spot.

“His pits turn out pulled pork, chicken, and brisket, and fans rave about the ‘Redneck Nachos'—housemade potato chips loaded up with pulled pork, gooey cheese, jalapenos, and tangy barbecue sauce,” Southern Living noted.

Rivers Smokehouse captured the top spot this year. It’s in Winter Park, Florida.
