Things 2 Do

Chipper Jones buys $5.4 million Canton estate

CANTON, Ga. — Chipper Jones has been busy! The former Atlanta Braves star bought and sold a multimillion-dollar estate in the last several weeks.

Jones sold his Painted View Ranch in Canton. The 23,000-square-foot estate sold for $11 million. The property included beautiful gardens and fountains, a heated pool, expansive pastures, a pond, a large home theater, a home gym, a sauna, a steam shower, a massage/yoga room, a game room, a custom playroom, and a craft room.

But it didn’t take Jones long to find a replacement. The Baseball Hall of Famer purchased another estate, according to Cherokee County property records. It’s a farmhouse that sits on 10 acres and is known as October Farm.

“The home was spacious without feeling too big or stuffy,” listing agent Rony Ghelerter said. “It was a home most could envision living in, come for dinner, and never leave.”

Ghelerter works with Atlanta Fine Homes, Sotheby’s International Realty.

The home sold for $5.4 million.

“October Farm was a magnificent estate property that felt like home the minute you walked through the door, but the grand party barn was exceptional — gorgeous fireplace, high ceilings, bar, and catering kitchen, views from every window overlooking the Hampton-style pool, music throughout the estate, and the pickleball court — that was a ‘wow-wow’ feature. Not many properties have that,” Ghelerter said.

The main house features four bedrooms, three wood-burning fireplaces, old Chicago brick access, a separate catering kitchen, and a cast-iron soaking tub.

The grounds include the pickleball court, a saltwater pool, and a party barn.

“Not only is there significant space inside to entertain, but the rocking chair-covered porches on the front and back of the house create additional space for guests and friends to enjoy the view of the pool or property while lounging on one of the many porch swings,” Ghelerter said.

The barn includes a dance floor, a catering kitchen, rustic exposed beams, a stacked stone fireplace, and a custom bourbon display bar.

And if the former All-Star and his wife are anything like Ghelerter, they’ll enjoy their new master suite.

“I loved the owner’s suite with the covered sleeping porch off of it and the luxurious owner’s bath with his and her closets. I could spend a lot of time there — so peaceful.”
