FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a burglar set fire to a convenience store after stealing the cash register -- and it was all caught on surveillance video.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington got exclusive access to the video of the moment the Cave Spring store went up in flames.

Police are still searching for the burglar.

Police say the man busted through the glass door of the Rozy Food Mart in Floyd County on May 21. He then headed straight for the cash register and back out the door. But then he set his sights on the store itself.

Video shows the man walking calmly through the store before taking a lighter and setting a shirt on fire. As the flames grew -- and after he stopped to steal a case of beer -- he lit a few bags of chips and some hats on fire.

Within minutes, the store was filled with flames and smoke.

"It spread all the way to the back end of the store," Brittany Heffelfinger, with the Floyd County Police Department, said. "The manner that he goes into the store, he knows where he's going, he moves really quickly, there's no hesitation."

Washington talked to the store owner over the phone, who said he doesn't recognize the burglar and has no idea why his store was targeted.

"You fire up the store and you damage so much," the owner said. "Everybody is in shock, you know."

The cameras melted in the fire, but not the interior hard drive. Now, police have clear video of the burglar.

"He's a white male, early to mid-20s," Heffelfinger said. "You can tell he has light brown, reddish hair."

Police think he's still in the area and believe he might strike again.

"There's no way to say that he's not going to do this to another business or residence," Heffelfinger said.

The store is still closed and has a sign in front explaining what happened. The owner told Washington that it may be another two to four months before he can reopen.
