EAST POINT, Ga. — A man accused of a deadly shooting at a metro Atlanta Family Dollar has been sentenced to life in prison.
Justin Hodges entered a negotiated guilty plea earlier this month for the murder of Scott Melton on Christmas Eve 2024.
He was sentenced to life in prison followed by five years of probation.

Melton and his wife, Alize Forshee-Melton, went to the Family Dollar at Delowe Drive and Headland Drive in East Point.
Hodges had been hired as a security guard by his girlfriend, who worked at the store.
Investigators say that Hodges and Melton got into an argument inside the store that led to shots being fired.

Fulton County prosecutors said they have surveillance video showing the moment Hodges killed Melton.
At the time, Forshee-Melton was pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl.
