ATLANTA — Some drier air has finally started to move in following a soggy weekend that dumped almost 6 inches of rain in parts of north Georgia.

"Our wet weather pattern is just hours away from finally coming to an end," said Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz.

Conditions are expected to improve throughout the evening hours and into the days ahead.

"That rain chance really tapers off as we head past sunset tonight," Nitz said.

That rain is being pushed out by a cold front that is moving in, bringing drier conditions behind it.

By Tuesday morning, the rain will be gone and conditions will be partly sunny come time for the morning rush hour.

"As we head into the afternoon, an isolated shower is not out of the question," Nitz said.

Nitz said those showers will be few and far between with the heating of the afternoon along the Interstate 85 corridor. He said the rain chances for any particular spot will only be at about 20%.

High temperatures for Tuesday will be below average, in the low 80s.

Tuesday also starts a drying trend that will last into the weekend.
