GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Kevin Andrews was arraigned Tuesday on a new indictment in the killing of Gwinnett police officer Pradeep Tamang.

Police say Andrews shot Tamang and another officer trying to arrest him at a hotel near Stone Mountain in February.
Tamang died but officer David Reed pinned Andrews to the floor and handcuffed him despite being shot.
“The state has re-served notice of state’s intent to seek the death penalty,” said John Melvin, Deputy Chief District Attorney.
Andrews pleaded not guilty on all counts.
Andrews now faces 11 charges, and his attorneys argued last month prosecutors had no gang evidence when they indicted him.

Prosecutors reworded those charges, and defense attorney Allan Sincox says it appears defense motions prompted the new indictment.
“I don’t think they should get an extra bite at the apple,” Sincox said.
Melvin says he’s ready to defend the original indictment but is moving forward on the new one.
“This indictment has the added charge of an illegal firearm for the Glock that had a machine gun conversion device on it,” Melvin said.
Andrews told Judge Tracie Cason he has no complaints about his lawyers.
After a huddle outside out of the courtroom, his attorneys said he wanted to talk about the jail and about them.
The judge then closed the courtroom.
Andrews will remain in jail until his next court date on Nov. 20.
