DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Amidst the ongoing efforts to find a new home, and lifeline, for the Douglas County Museum of Art and History, the county Board of Commissioners was expected to review a new leasing contract.
As of Aug. 18, the vote and agenda item were postponed. A new date has not been set yet.
Chris Usry-Arnold, the Board President of DC Museum, Inc., shared what was planned to be presented to the Board of Commissioners that day.
Ursy-Arnold heads the new board managing the Museum, after the former nonprofit, Old Courthouse, Inc., voluntarily dissolved and passed along all assets to the new board in July.

Museum plans were supposed to be presented to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 3 and Aug. 18, but the Aug. 3 presentation did not occur.
Usry-Arnold shared a copy of materials that were presented to the board on Aug. 17, detailing how the new museum board had worked to provide documents, information and plans to the BOC for how to move forward.
The presentation included plans for expanding exhibits at the museum, reorganization of exhibits and removal of long-time items and submitting documents to the state of Georgia to allow for memberships and different donation levels.
Those materials were also distributed as handouts at a board meeting and to other members of the public, according to Usry-Arnold.
In October, the board of commissioners voted to end the lease, which museum officials said came without warning, with a more final 3-2 vote coming in February.
Soon after, board members from Old Courthouse tried to save the museum, eventually resigning so a new board could take control.
Updates on the next steps were not immediately available.
