DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — One year after Ana Scott was shot and killed while trying to stop suspected burglars from breaking into her DeKalb County home, her brother is speaking publicly for the first time about his family’s loss and their continued search for answers.

Rory Scott told Channel 2’s Michael Seiden that his family is still struggling with two questions: Who else was responsible for his sister’s killing, and when will they be caught?
“When Ana was taken from us a year ago, it’s absolutely rocked my family, and not a day has gone by that we haven’t thought about her,” Scott said.
The shooting happened in September 2025 along Citation Drive. Scott said his 36-year-old sister was at work when she received an alert from her doorbell camera.
She pulled up the video and saw suspected burglars trying to break into her Decatur-area home.
Ana Scott rushed home and tried to stop them. Police said gunfire erupted, and she was killed at the scene.

Her brother said knowing how much of what happened was captured on camera has made the past year even more difficult.
“The entire thing was caught on Ring camera — the break-in, the murder, everything was caught on Ring camera — and we still don’t have justice,” Scott said.
Police have arrested and charged one man in connection with Scott’s killing, but at least two other suspects have not been arrested.
“I feel like it makes us all more sad, more angry, an entire roller coaster of emotions because there’s so many things unanswered,” Scott said.
For Rory Scott, the loss is felt not only in the major moments but also in the everyday ones.
He described Ana as the glue of their family — the middle of three siblings, the comedian and the sister he could always call when he needed advice.
“And over the last year, there’s been a lot of those scenarios and a lot of times where I was just ready to pick up the phone and call her and couldn’t,” he said
.But as the family continues waiting for answers in the investigation, Rory Scott said he doesn’t want the circumstances surrounding his sister’s death to become her legacy.
Ana loved animals and worked at a veterinary hospital. Her brother said she also spent years caring for her grandparents and was someone her family and friends could always count on.
“I don’t want this to be the last thought of her,” Scott said. “I want it to be all the happy times and all the smiles that she brought to everyone’s face.”
Channel 2 Action News has reached out to DeKalb County police to ask where the search for the remaining suspects stands and whether investigators have developed any new leads.
