DORAVILLE, Ga. — The DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a plane crashed behind a home in Doraville.
According to DCFR, two people were injured at the location of the plane crash.
Doraville Assistant Police Chief Brian Harris said preliminary information at the scene indicates those injured were the pilot and passenger of the aircraft.
Harris told Channel 2 Action News that the plane was a single-engine aircraft and that the NTSB was on its way to the scene to investigate.
A roadblock is already in place near the crash site, according to Channel 2’s Bryan Mims.

In a statement shared with Channel 2 Action News, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said they would be investigating the crash.
Preliminary details from the incident show a Beechcraft B90 crashed in a residential area near the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport around 9:35 a.m., according to the FAA.

At the crash site, Mims was told both people who were on the plane were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
First responders at the scene told Channel 2 Action News that no houses were seriously damaged, though wreckage was visible at the end of the street.
Firefighters roped the area off with yellow tape amid the crash investigation.
Many neighbors living nearby spoke to Mims, saying they’d seen or heard the crash on Sunday morning.
Roxy Barlow, who lives nearby, told Mims she was still in bed when she heard the crash.
“I woke up to this sound of a failing engine, sort of like a whoooooong, brrrr,” Barlow said. “Thought that it was a truck accident because you can hear the freeway now.”
Then, she said more, and different, noises came after.
“But then I jumped up and heard this crashing, like I could hear crackling of a tree,” Barlow said. “I woke up and I saw trees waving, I thought it was maybe just trees falling because that happens in this area.”
When Barlow walked outside, she saw a small plane had crashed between two houses, including the one where DeWitt King, Jr. lives.
King told Mims he’d been at church when someone called to say a plane had crashed next to his house, where he’s lived for 42 years.
“A little scary, scary, yeah,” King said. “Blessed, really, that it’s no worse than it is.”
DeKalb County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kevin Cavanaugh told Mims two people were flying the Beechcraft from Miami to PDK and were just a couple of miles from the runway when they had engine trouble.
“They decided they were gonna try to ground it, they hit the pine trees about 80 or 90 feet up and basically stopped at the trees and landed straight down between two houses,” Cavanaugh said.
The battalion chief said the two onboard were able to walk away from the wreckage and talk to him before they were taken away for medical care.
“Considering the conditions, they seemed like they were in good shape for what they’ve been through,” Cavanaugh said. “They were in good spirits for what they’ve been through.”
Officials told Mims the two who were on the plane are now at Grady Memorial Hospital and are expected to recover.
