DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested an 18-year-old suspect for the shooting deaths of two young brothers.

Several DeKalb County leaders held a news conference about the arrest.
Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes reported as those leaders also announced a program they believe will be part of the solution, called Education to Empowerment.

The CEO of DeKalb County said it’s a proactive program that she and others have been working on for a year. They decided to announce the rollout of the program in the last hour because the community is grieving.
A 18-year-old is now charged with shooting and killing an 11-year-old boy and that boy’s 12-year-old brother.
Julian Ellis is charged with shooting and killing Jamarion Rolle and Jahki Clark, as well as shooting two of the victims’ women relatives.

Investigators believe this was all over and argument and fight after a football game, and that’s why Wednesday’s news conference was also about the program county officials are calling E2E.
They believe it’ll help young people deal with conflict resolution better — putting them on a path to deal with things in a productive way.
“Two children should still be alive today,” DeKalb County Police Chief Greg Padrick said. “Their families their schools and our community are grieving a loss that no family should ever experience. Last night our detectives arrested 18-year-old Julian Ellis in connection with this shooting.”
The program is 12 weeks long, and county leaders have teamed up with the school district to have a strategic plan on how to figure out who should participate in this new program.
