DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are looking for two people who were inside a car that crashed into the steps of a home.

The collision and the people involved running away were captured by a doorbell camera.

Homeowner Jimmy Baughcum told Channel 2’s Michael Doudna that he is thankful everyone made it out alive.

“I’m glad that somehow they threaded between a couple of trees, and they just landed on the steps, and that’s all,” he said. “Steps can be repaired and replaced.”

Tire marks on the pavement where the car went over the curb and through the grass show the path it took. It went through a gate before ending up on the front porch.

Baughcum says this all happened around 4 a.m. Sunday. His bedroom is on the opposite side of the house, so they only heard a slight bump.

When they came outside, they saw a blue Ford with a Washington County tag.

“When I saw the video, I thought I can’t believe that anyone walked away from this,” he said.

The two people in the car can be heard on video from the doorbell camera telling each other they can’t be there before running off.

It looks like they tried to clear out the car of evidence, but they left things behind including an empty Smirnoff bottle and a Buffalo Wild Wings ordering pad, similar to what servers use.

“If you have that kind of accident, you must think, well, certainly I’ve got some legal problems here,” Baughcum said.

DeKalb County police did not release additional details Tuesday but asked anyone with information to contact them.
