COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A water main break flooded a Cobb County frontage road Wednesday morning and sent a plume of water into the air near I-75.
Interstate North Parkway is completely shut down at Cumberland Boulevard, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Cobb County crews are on scene working to address the spill.
Officials said Wednesday that the road will remain closed until Friday. Authorities are asking drivers to use alternate routes.
Channel 2 Action News first reported the break Wednesday morning.
"Thar she blows on Traffic Tracker 2!" Triple Team Traffic's Mark Arum said on the air. "Look at this water main break in Cobb County. It is spewing!"
Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach was on the scene, where the explosion of asphalt and debris sent water shooting up into a nearby office building.
The water took out a tree, flooded the lobby, busted a window and took a chunk off the stone facade at the Platinum Tower building.

An employee at nearby Aveana Healthcare on the 15th floor couldn't get to work.
"I'm coming the usual route and tried Powers Ferry to come by the BMW, and that road as blocked off," the employee said. "No one called, so how are you supposed to get into the building?"
No one was allowed in the building as work continued outside to fix the water and the road. Workers called it a day and left before the day even started.
The county told Gehlbach that the water pressure was so high because the break was on their 12-inch line, but where it ties into the Water Authority's 48-inch main feeder line.
