COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested a man who allegedly took advantage of a student with special needs.
The incident happened at the man’s house directly across the street from HAVEN Academy at Sky View.
Cobb County police told Channel 2's Chris Jose that an Uber driver dropped off a 17-year-old special needs student at the school on Jan. 18.
Instead of going to school, police said the student saw puppies in the yard across Dunn Road. She walked over to play with the dogs, at which point William Turner invited her into his home.
“My grandkids have been over there. Touch the dogs and everything,” neighbor Walter Johnson said.
Inside the home, officers said Turner showed the victim porn, offered her alcohol and made unwanted advances.
Investigators said Turner asked the girl to perform a sex act. He is also accused of groping and kissing the student.

On Monday, Jose tried to ask a woman who lives at Turner’s home if she knew anything.
“I’m not discussing anything. Thank you,” the woman told Jose.
Police arrested Turner after a four-week investigation that included forensic interviews with the victim.
Jose emailed the school district on Monday asking for a comment on this story. A school representative sent Jose a statement saying, in part:
“The student did not enter our building until after we had notified her parents and authorities that she had not arrived at school.”
The district said it’s supporting the victim and her family.
Back in the neighborhood, Johnson said he needs need to talk to his grandchildren about Turner.
“I don’t feel safe living in the area like that. (I'm) going to have to sit there and watch now,” Johnson said.
Turner is charged with several crimes, including sexual battery. His bond has been set at $10,000.
