Cobb County Fire Department received the first call about the fire around 9:15 a.m. When crews arrived, firefighters spotted an exterior structure on fire near the building. Crews quickly extinguished the fire.

“Some smoke and heat from the fire did affect the larger building and crews investigated and did ambient air monitoring to determine it was safe for the building occupants to re-enter the area,” a fire spokesperson said.

FedEx sent Channel 2 Action News the following statement:

“We are appreciative of the prompt response by the first responders and grateful no one was injured. At this time, impacts to our operations are minimal, operations have resumed to normal, and our contingency plans are in place to help ensure service continuity.
