ATLANTA — The brother of a former Atlanta Falcons player facing murder charges in their mother’s death was scheduled for a bond hearing. But he and his attorney ended up withdrawing their request asking for bond.
Channel 2’s Tom Jones was in the courtroom where Ciarre Campbell appeared before a judge on Tuesday.

Ciarre Campbell is the brother of current Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell, who played for the Falcons in 2023. He is accused of killing their mother, Nateal Campbell, at her Buckhead townhome.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office says Nateal Campbell died from blunt and sharp force injuries to her head and neck. Investigators later arrested her son, Ciarre, and filed murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife charges.

Deputies brought Ciarre Campbell, 41, into court even though the hearing wasn’t going to happen. Jones reported that Campbell looked disinterested during the ongoing discussions about next steps in his case.
Jones later spoke with Campbell’s attorney about the bond hearing that didn’t happen.
“I have no comment about the case, but I would ask, on behalf of the Campbell family, that the public respect their privacy at this time,” Jay Abt told Jones.
“Can you can you say how your client is doing?”
I can not. No comment. No comment on anything. We withdrew our motion for bond today. I can not tell you," Abt said.
