ATLANTA — Does hearing a “y’all” or adding a few extra syllables to a word make your heart flutter? You’re not alone.
According to a new study, a Southern accent is the most attractive.
After a survey of Americans, 17.7% of people named a Southern accent the fastest way to their hearts.

The Boston/New England accent and Midwest accent were the next most attractive, according to the survey.
Those surveyed called the Southern accent “friendly,” “authentic” and “like coming home.”
One person said the Southern accent “seemed to flow like a creek over smooth rocks.”

But a Georgia-specific accent was only the fourth-most attractive, following a Louisiana accent, Texas accent and California accent.
The Philadelphia accent was named the least attractive.
