DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Alexander Ebiorobo says the gunfire sounded like it was right inside her bedroom, and for a moment, she actually thought she had been hit.
“It sounded like it was literally in my bedroom,” Ebiorobo said. “It was so scary.”

Ebiorobo jolted out of bed when she heard loud popping noises.
“I got up and I felt my whole body tingle” she said. “and it didn’t feel right.”
She then asked her 12-year-old son if he was OK. When he said yes, she asked him if she had been hit.
“I said ‘Am I hit?’ he said ‘No mom you’re not hit.’”
After making sure her two younger sons were OK, she ran downstairs and called police.
When DeKalb County Police arrived, they found eight shell casings and multiple bullet holes. It’s a scene this neighborhood has seen before.
Just six weeks ago, on July 22, someone opened fire on a neighbor’s townhome. Channel 2 Action News learned a mother and her 11-month-old daughter were inside.
Bullets struck the townhome and the family’s car. Her husband, Hamiel Jefferson, rushed home from his overnight shift.

“I would just imagine if she was standing up she would have got hit,” Jefferson said.
No one was hurt in that shooting, but for Ebiorobo, another round of gunfire is enough to make her relocate her family.
“I’m just like ok so this is something that’s going to be an ongoing thing and I’m trying to understand why,” she said. “I’m just so frighted I’m shook up still.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ebiorobo relocate.
DeKalb County Police say they believe the two incidents are related and are still investigating.
