COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators say a stranger went after a family with a knife inside a grocery store.
It happened at the Mableton Supermarket along Mableton Parkway.

Police say he got the knife from a shelf in the store, unpackaged it and confronted a father who was there with his wife and five children.
The manager said he is thankful it wasn’t a busy Tuesday night when he had to call police after investigators say the man went after the family.

“The parents and their kids were just grocery shopping,” said Sgt. Eric Smith, PIO with Cobb County Police.
It’s unclear what the confrontation was over, but investigators say Pedro Barrera was so upset, he walked away to find a knife in the store.
“(He) removed the knife from the packaging,” Sgt. Smith said.
Investigators say Barrera walked back over to the family and started yelling at them with the knife in his hand.
No one was hurt.
When police showed up, they say Barrera was still at the store.
“He was still in possession of the knife, and the officers developed probable cause to arrest him,” Sgt. Smith said.
He is charged with aggravated assault and five counts of cruelty to children. He was denied bond.
