High school football coach arrested during game, charged with assaulting players

TEMPLE, Ga. — Under the Friday night lights, a high school football coach was arrested during a game last week on the opposing school’s campus.

Emarde Brown, linebacker coach at Therell High School, was arrested at Temple High School by Temple Police Department.

Police said two players from Temple High School were assaulted when Brown allegedly went onto the field when a fight between players started.

Investigations are still underway about what led up to the fight, police said, as they review video footage from fans at the game.

Brown has been charged with cruelty to children, battery and simple assault.

He was taken to Carroll County jail following his arrest and released on a $2500 bond Monday.

Police say additional charges are possible.
