Good Samaritan dies days after trying to stop car break-ins at Lowe's

EAST POINT, Ga. — A Good Samaritan has died days after he tried to stop car thieves at a metro Atlanta Lowe's parking lot.

Channel 2's Tom Jones learned Melvin Robinson, 44, died Saturday from his injuries.

They called 911 and then decided to confront the men before they were shot. Police said the shooters drove away in a dark colored car, possibly a Maxima.

Police told Jones Robinson and another man noticed two men breaking into cars outside the Lowe's in East Point. The shooters have not been caught.

The shooting happened last Monday at the store on North Commerce Drive. One of two victims ran into the store on North Commerce Drive and alerted everyone about what was going on.

Robinson leaves behind a wife and two boys, ages 7 and 8. The second victim, who has not been identified, is recovering.
