According to city documents, the contract with MIG includes a 10% contingency.
Now approved, the company will provide Decatur “with dedicated support, strategic guidance and ongoing facilitation of Decatur’s 30-member Task Force on Homelessness.”
That work includes managing budgets, scheduling meetings, performing virtual check-in calls with city staff and task force leaders, confirming guest speakers, assignments, plan committee report-outs and resolve other emerging issues.
The task force is currently expected to hold eight three-hour meetings, five of which will be in-person.
As part of the contract, MIG will also perform interviews with each of the task force members and other key partners for the initiative “to build a foundation of trust and consensus around common themes.”
MIG is also charged with taking on draft charges for each of the five committees and a work plan for the committee’s focus areas.
MIG’s final role with the task force includes delivery of a final report on the task force’s findings, draft a list of policy recommendations and a framework for how to adopt and implement them, if the recommendations are approved by the city commission.
In a letter to city officials from before the vote, MIG wrote that it strives to meet the objectives using a three-person team dedicated to the work, without any subconsultants. The company said its proposal to perform the work was based on an estimated 11-month project timeline to continue through August 2027.
