DECATUR, Ga. — The Decatur City Commission is set to discuss, and possibly vote on, hiring a company to operate the city’s Task Force on Homelessness.
The contract, as proposed, would pay Moore Iacofano Golstman, Inc. $109,023 to run the task force.
The task force itself has a separate project budget of $125,000.
According to a memo to the Decatur City Manager, city staff recommend approval of the contract.

In the memo, staff said the contract with MIG would include a 10% contingency. If approved, the company would provide Decatur “with dedicated support, strategic guidance and ongoing facilitation of Decatur’s 30-member Task Force on Homelessness.”
That work includes managing budgets, scheduling meetings, performing virtual check-in calls with city staff and task force leaders, confirming guest speakers, assignments, plan committee report-outs and resolve other emerging issues.

The task force is currently expected to hold eight three-hour meetings, five of which will be in-person.
If approved, MIG will also perform interviews with each of the task force members and other key partners for the initiative “to build a foundation of trust and consensus around common themes.”
MIG would also take on draft charges for each of the five committees and a work plan for the committee’s focus areas.
The final role of the contract, if approved, would have MIG deliver a final report on the task force’s findings, draft a list of policy recommendations and a framework for how to adopt and implement them, if the recommendations are approved by the city commission.
In a letter to city officials, MIG wrote that it strives to meet the objectives using a three-person team dedicated to the work, without any subconsultants. The company said its proposal to perform the work was based on an estimated 11-month project timeline to continue through August 2027.
The Decatur City Commission is expected to discuss and possibly vote on approving the contract at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
