DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A Dekalb County home is peppered with bullet holes after a drive-by shooting early Tuesday morning.

The one person hit was an innocent great-grandmother who was asleep in her bed.

“It was a shock. This is the sweetest person. She has the biggest heart. I would expect this to happen to someone else, but not my mom,” said her daughter, Teresa Tye.

Thankfully, despite being shot in the neck and spending hours in the ICU, Tye says her mom is expected to survive. However, she says the shooting was senseless.

“Hopefully, they find you and lock you up in jail,” Tye said.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. in Dekalb County. Neighbors say they heard several gunshots before seeing a car speeding away from the house.

“How can people act like this? We are all trying to live in this neighborhood,” said David Tolar, a neighbor. “I hope people realize that the only thing this results in is damaging people unrelated to the situation. It’s craziness.”

Police are still looking for the suspect and are asking anyone with information to call DeKalb County police through the Tip411 app or text “DKPD” to 847411.
