COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Five people, at least three of whom are teenagers believed to be students, are in custody after a fight at a football game on Friday night.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a fight broke out between three young men, ages 16, 17 and 18, at the Newnan High School and East Coweta High School game.
School system officials later said five people were placed into custody after the fight near the home side concession stand, but did not confirm if all of them are students.

School officials say deputies quickly put a stop to the fight.
Investigators found a gun on the ground after the fight, but say it was not fired. They are working to determine who had the gun.
All five are in custody, but there is no word on whether they will be formally arrested and charged.
There were no reports of any major injuries to the teens or anyone else at the game.
“We had a strong presence on hand to monitor and respond immediately when this occurred at tonight’s game, and I am grateful for the high level of cooperation and coordination we continue to have here,” said Coweta County School System Safety Director Danielle Rosa.

Earlier on Friday, a fight broke out between two teams before their football game, causing it to be canceled.
Players from Heritage High School and Rockdale County High School got into a fight on the field during pre-game warmups, officials confirmed.
