COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A police officer on the way to begin his patrol shift saw an accident on the road. It took his efforts, and the help of four more officers, to get the suspect to the jail.
Shantell Edwards is accused of biting one and threatening to kill him.
The incident started while a Cobb County officer was driving to Precinct 3 around 6 a.m. when he saw two vehicles in an accident on Atlanta Road where it meets Cumberland Parkway.
Police said both vehicles were obstructing traffic at the intersection and the officer told dispatch he was investigating.

“Due to the female’s violent and tumultuous behavior, the medical staff was unable to diagnose or treat the female’s alleged injuries,” the report says.
Arrest warrants shared with Channel 2 Action News show that Edwards is accused of biting one officer, kicking several others repeatedly, spitting on another and threatening to kill the first one, leading to a charge of making terroristic threats.
During the arrest, warrants show that Edwards told officers to “take these cuffs off me so I can kill this b****.”

After investigating, police said the officer took Edwards into custody, then to Cobb Hospital to be medically cleared before heading to the detention center.
Edwards’ violent behavior led to medical care being denied by staff at the hospital, according to arrest warrants.
She was eventually taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and charged with:
- Obstruction - Simple battery against a law enforcement officer
- DUI - alcohol
- Traffic offense
- Hit and run
- Making terroristic threats
