ATLANTA — Hackers behind major school cyberattack now claim they’ve breached FBI.

The hacking group tied to some of the nation’s largest recent data breaches is now claiming it hacked the FBI, raising concerns among cybersecurity experts about what information may have been exposed.

We’re speaking to a cyber expert about the serious consequences that hack could have, LIVE on Channel 2 at 6 p.m.

The group, known as ShinyHunters, has previously claimed responsibility for the massive Canvas cyberattack that disrupted schools and colleges across Georgia, including Georgia Tech, Emory University, Fulton County Schools and other metro Atlanta districts.

According to reports cited by cybersecurity researchers, the hackers claim to have obtained information including names, Social Security numbers and records that could connect some FBI personnel to sensitive assignments.

Experts warn that if the information is legitimate, it could potentially help criminals or foreign intelligence agencies identify federal agents and learn details about their work.
