MOUNT BERRY , Ga. — For fans of Berry College’s Eagle Cam, you are in for a real treat this year because there are two eggs that have been laid. The first egg appeared on Dec. 5 and now a second one has been spotted.
“Berry College’s bald eagle couple first appeared on the main campus in the spring of 2012. Since that time, they have continued to nest in the top of a tall pine tree situated between the main entrance and the parking lot of the Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center,” Berry College said on its website.
Since 2013, the college has streamed a live camera for people to keep an eye on the nest and the chance to see the eaglets once they hatch.

“Eagles have been reported in the vicinity of the campus for the past few years, but the Berry nest is the first documented nest in the modern history of Floyd County,” the college said. “Before the eagles, Berry officials had planned to build a stadium in the area. Once the eagles arrived, the stadium site was moved to the south. In May 2014, Berry officials announced that the stadium would be relocated even further south out of respect for the eagles and their habitat.”
Eagles generally lay between one to three eggs throughout the year. The incubation period for eaglets is about 35 days.
An eaglet will generally take its first flight about 10-13 weeks after hatching.
