Threat investigation at North Oconee High School gets an all-clear

OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. — The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has cleared North Oconee High School of any threat.

Students and staff were evacuated from the building on Friday morning while deputies and school officials assessed the situation.

Nearby Rocky Branch Elementary School was also placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, though officials stated there is no indication of a direct threat to that campus.

Sheriff James A. Hale Jr. emphasized the department’s focus on the investigation.

“The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our top priority,” Hale said.

The school district said parents wishing to pick up their students can do so in front of the Fine Arts Auditorium.
