COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Kristen Perez-Waldhofer could barely hold back the tears when she read the Christmas card from an anonymous Channel 2 Action News viewer.
“Here’s hoping you have a better 2021,” she read.
Inside the card, the viewer included $1,000 in gift cards to help pay for Christmas presents for Perez-Waldhofer’s three kids.
“All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know you want to be anon, but I wish I could give you a big hug and thank you,” she told Channel 2′s Matt Johnson.

Perez-Waldhofer told Johnson that her unemployment benefits ran out last week. She also said it has been hard trying to explain to her kids that Christmas may look a little different this year.
The Cobb County mother said her daughter offered to pay for their family’s gifts.
“She said, ‘Mommy, I’ll give you my piggy bank. You can go buy our Christmas presents.’”
Two viewers reached out to Johnson to find out how they could help. One of them dropped off the gift card on Saturday. Johnson picked up the card from another viewer and brought it to the family on Monday.
Perez-Waldhofer said the holiday spirit is alive and well in her family thanks to two strangers.
“Thank you from the bottom of my kids heart,” she said. “I never imagined.”
