Tesla fully engulfed in flames, roadway closed

NORTHWEST ATLANTA, Ga. — A Tesla caught fire Thursday morning in northwest Atlanta, prompting a response from Atlanta police and fire crews.

The vehicle was on Chattahoochee Avenue NW near Logan Circle NW.

Firefighters arrived to find the car fully engulfed, according to information from the scene. Crews worked to put out the flames and remained on scene to make sure the vehicle was fully extinguished.

The fire was mostly out, but crews were still dealing with hot spots and smoke before leaving the scene.

Chattahoochee Avenue remains closed while police blocked both sides of the vehicle.

There is debris in the roadway, but it has not been confirmed whether the vehicle was involved in a crash.

It is also not yet known what caused the Tesla to catch fire. Channel 2 Action News has reached out for more.
