One store owner, who didn’t want to be identified, said the man told the salesperson he wanted to buy a diamond ring and money was no object.
“He wanted a big diamond and he wanted to buy today. He had to buy today,” the owner “That was his thing.”
The store owner didn’t want his shop to be identified because the thief is still out there. He said the ring the man got away with was worth $6,000.
“The salesperson was showing him a tray and this is one of the first rings he looked at,” the owner said. “He picked up a ring from this little corner here and slides the ring on his pinky and from the pinky it goes inside his pocket.”
The owner said he didn’t realize the ring was gone until the man had already left the business.
“We’re not the only victim,” the owner said. “He had gone down the road to another jeweler and they had caught him as well trying to try to steal a ring.”
The second target was the Lee Bryant Jewelry and Watch company off of Roswell Road. The owner of that store declined to comment. He said police are now reviewing surveillance video there.
