CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police are continuing their search this morning for a missing nonverbal 6-year-old boy who was reported missing Saturday night from a Clayton County apartment complex.

John Ross III was last seen wearing blue shorts with no shirt and no shoes. The child is nonverbal because of a developmental disability.
Clayton County police responded to the call around 7:45 Saturday night. Officers and other first responders searched for hours overnight at Meadow Springs Apartment Homes in the 6000 block of Riverdale Road. In the early morning hours Sunday, they called off the search until 8 a.m.
A Clayton County police spokesperson said a dive team searched a pond near the apartments Saturday night and planned to continue searching during daylight hours Sunday.
The search has included police, firefighters, K9 units and thermal imaging cameras. Channel 2 photographer Donnie Tuggle, who was on the scene, said one of the boy’s teachers and several neighbors assisted in the search.
Police have not released any information about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, such as who reported the child missing and where exactly he was last seen.
John Ross III is four feet, two inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds. Clayton County police say if you think you have seen this child or have any information, you’re urged to call 911.
