ACWORTH, Ga. — Two Acworth police officers are being recognized for their quick actions to help a woman who was stabbed several times.
Officer LeFave and Officer Dye were waiting for food at the Chick-fil-A on Highway 92 last month when a woman was stabbed by her daughter came into the restaurant for help.

Investigators said the woman had been stabbed 10 times by her daughter in the parking lot. LeFave and Dye applied tourniquets to the victim and stopped her from bleeding more until more help arrived.
“Their calm, quick thinking and immediate actions helped save a life. We are proud of Officer LeFave and Officer Dye for stepping up when it mattered most and demonstrating the dedication to serving others that defines our officers,” the department wrote.
The City of Acworth recognized the officers for their work.

Channel 2 Action News at 4:00 p.m. first reported on the breaking news at the Chick-fil-A back on Aug. 20. NewsChopper 2 flew over the parking lot as deputies put up crime scene tape.
Investigators said the victim and her daughter, Shyanniah Johnson, were traveling north to Wisconsin when an argument began inside their vehicle. The pair exited Interstate 75 and pulled into the Chick-fil-A parking lot, where the fight escalated.
Deputies said Johnson assaulted her mother, who suffered no less than 10 stab wounds. Johnson also injured her own leg during the incident, according to investigators.
Authorities said Johnson left the scene but was later found in Whitfield County. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office charged Johnson with aggravated assault under family violence act.
