FAIRBURN, Ga. — A Fairburn police officer shot two dogs and a homeowner in the foot while responding to a call on Thursday morning.
The officer-involved shooting happened outside a home on Bishop Road along the Fairburn-South Fulton city line. Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach reports that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now on the scene.

South Fulton police said Fairburn officers were investigating a report of a woman in the roadway shortly after midnight and approached a home to get more information.
When someone opened the door, South Fulton police said several dogs ran toward a Fairburn officer. The officer opened fire and hit the dogs and a man in the foot, according to South Fulton investigators.
Gehlbach spoke to the man’s mother who says her son is being treated at the hospital for his gunshot wound.
Police did not have an update on the dogs conditions.

South Fulton officers arrived after the shooting and later confirmed the location is within the City of South Fulton.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Channel 2 Action News has reached out to the Fairburn Police for a statement.
