SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — There have been surprises in a Sandy Springs police investigation of a shooting at a club that authorities say was operating illegally.
A judge denied bond Thursday for the man accused in the shooting. Bodycam video reveals what happened Saturday morning.
“It was what you like to call a wild morning,” said Sandy Springs officer Jarrell Green.
“The more we looked into stuff, the more things became apparent,” said Sandy Springs police detective J.T. Williams.

Surprise No. 1: A shooting victim discovered shot three times, including in the chest and in the arm, plus a graze on the side, was released from the hospital later the same day.
The chest wound had been just inches away from making it a murder case near dawn Aug. 15 outside Nubia Cafe and Restaurant on Roswell Road, Williams says.
“It was an absolute, absolute miracle,” Williams added.
“Yes, it was a miracle,” Green said.
“If the bullet would have been a couple inches down into the anatomically towards his right, it would have most likely struck his heart when it killed him instantly,” Williams said.
Surprise No. 2: Roswell police responded to a person shot call to 911 encountered 28-year-old Bienvenu Deonoudjou, who turned out to be the shooting suspect from the Sandy Springs incident, Green said.

“We found that the suspect, after shooting our victim, he inadvertently shot himself in the leg,” he said.
“Roswell PD reached to us letting us know that there was another victim, another victim that was saying that he was shot also at the same location,” Green said.
Green says he commends Roswell police for the emergency medical help at the scene for Deonoudjou before the ambulance arrived because his wound appeared serious.
And he actually stayed in the hospital until Wednesday, much longer than his alleged victim.
Williams says he took warrants accusing Deonoudjou of aggravated assault and a firearms charge.
After Deonoudjou was discharged from the hospital, Officers arrested him as he was leaving.
Surprise No. 3: The detective says Nubia Cafe and Restaurant was operating as an illegal after-hours club.
Sandy springs police shut it down and issued citations for serving alcohol without the proper permit or license.
Williams said authorities interviewed the shooting victim.
“We interviewed him and his friend, and they explained that there were employees in there serving bottles for $150,” Williams said.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne reached a man who indicated he was involved in the management of the place. But as he pressed for detail, the call mysteriously disconnected.
Channel 2 Action News has been unable to find out who the attorney is for the shooting suspect but look forward to an opportunity to tell his side.
