National sandwich chain opening first Georgia locations

CHAMBLEE, Ga. — Sandwich restaurant chain Potbelly is making its Georgia debut soon.

The company is opening its first shop in the state at Peachtree Station Shopping Center in Chamblee on Sept. 1.

A spokesperson said the location marks the start of a broader expansion across metro Atlanta.

It will combine company-owned and franchised shops throughout the area.

A grand-opening celebration is scheduled at the Chamblee store on Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, games, prizes and giveaways. The first 50 guests in line for the event will receive free Potbelly for a year.

A second location is planned for Forsyth Town Center in Cumming, with a target opening in the fourth quarter of this year.

Potbelly plans to announce additional locations and timelines as site agreements are finalized.

It was founded in Chicago in 1977 and has more than 450 restaurants across the U.S.

Offerings include toasty sandwiches, wraps, signature salads, fresh-baked cookies, and hand-dipped shakes

Atlanta-based gas station and convenience store chain RaceTrac announced it purchased the sandwich chain in 2025 for $566 million.
