ATLANTA — Atlanta students in third through fifth grades have the option to go back to class Monday. This is the second phase of reopening Atlanta schools.
A public service announcement on the Atlanta Public School website outlined safety measures for students showing up for class this morning.
The video said that everyone will be required to wear a mask for the duration of the school day and that hand sanitizers will be available in each class.
Pre-K through second grade came back two weeks ago.

The district said it will screen students and teachers for the virus.PS superintendent, along with many other metro superintendents, sent a letter to Gov. Brian Kemp weeks ago urging him to add teachers and staff into the first phase of vaccinations.
The governor said there’s not enough supply to justify it.

“I certainly respect the response and understand it, and I understand the challenges that he has,” said Jason Esteves, chair of the Atlanta School Board.
As more students start to return to the classroom, the district will enforce safety measures to protect everyone from the coronavirus.
Students still have the option to learn from home.
Grades six through 12 can return to class next Tuesday.
The district said it will screen students and teacher for the virus.
