This summer marked four years since Coleman, who just a 29-year-old teacher, coach and father was killed in Peachtree Corners. Coleman stopped at a QuikTrip to pump air into his tires when three men tried to take his car.

“And when Bradley resisted, they shot and killed him,” his mother said. “God showed us that Bradley’s life ended that day, but his legacy will continue on.”

Carrying on his legacy is what his family worked to do Saturday night at the second Bradley L. Coleman Legacy Scholarship Foundation Gala.

Channel 2’s Karyn Greer was the emcee as they were awarded scholarships to student athletes. The ceremony also recognized three members of the Gwinnett County District attorney’s office who helped bring the three men who killed Coleman to justice.

“They receive life without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 145 years each. They will never see the light again,” Venetia Coleman said.

For the Coleman family, a night raising money to carry out a mission they know Coleman would be proud of, makes them feel closer to the son who was taken from them.

“Our lives have forever been changed. But my husband and I, we have vowed, we will spend the rest of our lives carrying on Bradley’s legacy, doing what Brad did, sowing goodness into the earth,” Venetia Coleman said.
