CEDARTOWN, Ga. — The attorney for HeeHaw’s owner has filed a demand for $1 million from the city in the wake of the miniature donkey’s death at the hands of a Cedartown officer.

Christopher McCormick, attorney for Hannah Israel, told Channel 2’s Ashlyn Webb that he sent a demand for $1 million to Cedartown Police Department, Cedartown Board of Commissioners and the city.
McCormick said they have 30 days to respond to the certified mail before the demand expires.
He said he also filed a lawsuit against the Cedartown officer who shot and killed the donkey, Trenton Garner, with the Federal Court clerk in Rome for Northern District of Georgia.

The filings come on the same day as an altercation at a rally for HeeHaw that led to a man being taken into custody in Cedartown.
The miniature donkey was killed last month in a pasture along Grady Road in Polk County while police were searching for a missing 12-year-old girl.
Garner said the donkey charged at him and wasn’t deterred by a Taser.
Israel said the donkey was socialized and attended petting zoos.
