OAKWOOD, Ga. — A north Georgia man faces a charge of homicide by vehicle after allegedly hitting an elderly woman when a trailer he was hauling detached from his vehicle.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Felipe Rios is accused of killing 87-year-old Martha Pass while traveling through Oakwood.
HCSO investigators determined Rios was driving westbound on Mountain View Road on Tuesday morning in his Jeep, hauling a trailer.

While on the road, Rios’ trailer detached from his Jeep and “careened into the eastbound lanes” as Pass drove through.
The trailer hit Pass’ vehicle and she died at the scene, according to deputies.
Rios was charged with second degree vehicular homicide and failure to secure the trailer.
The sheriff’s office said Rios posted a $16,830 bond and was released from the jail on Tuesday night.
