CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. — A Walmart employee is facing criminal charges for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from the company, all while on the clock.
The Chatham County Police Department said 19-year-old Derrick Robinson is accused of selling items from the store’s electronics aisle at a discount, “bypassing the cash register and handing over the ‘discounted’ merchandise” after having customers pay him directly via cash or through financial apps.

Police said so far, more than $8,000 of merchandise appears to have been taken from the store.
While he was being questioned, Robinson was also found with a firearm, “which is illegal because he is under 21,” according to the police department.
He was arrested Thursday for felony theft by conversion and illegal possession of a firearm.
Walmart later confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Robinson was no longer an employee.
